Immigration Refusals, Appeals & Complex Cases

A refusal is not always the end of the matter — but the right response depends on the decision, your immigration history and the evidence. Our solicitor-led immigration team reviews your position carefully and advises on the route that gives you the strongest realistic way forward.

Your decision letter will normally confirm whether an appeal or an administrative review is available. Strict time limits can apply to challenges, so we recommend seeking advice as soon as possible after a refusal.

How we can help

Every matter begins with a careful review of the refusal and the evidence. We will tell you plainly whether a challenge is worthwhile, whether a fresh application is stronger, or whether the decision is unlikely to be disturbed.

Refusal review and case assessment

We carefully review the refusal decision, the evidence before the decision-maker and your immigration history, then give you an honest assessment of the options realistically available.

Administrative review

Where the decision carries a right of administrative review, we assess whether a caseworking error has been made and prepare the representations in support.

Immigration appeals

An appeal to the First-tier Tribunal is only possible where the decision carries a legal right of appeal. Where it does, we advise on the merits and conduct the appeal on your behalf.

Fresh applications and further representations

Often the strongest route is a carefully prepared fresh application that directly addresses the reasons for refusal. We advise when this is preferable to a challenge.

Complex family, human-rights and long-residence matters

Article 8 family and private life claims, 10-year long residence, and cases involving complex immigration histories or gaps in evidence, prepared with a clear legal strategy.

Sponsor licence refusals, suspensions and revocations

For employers, we advise on sponsor licence refusals and respond to Home Office suspension or revocation action, including representations and compliance remediation.

Judicial review — a measured approach

When other routes are exhausted

Judicial review is not a routine remedy and is not appropriate for every refusal. It is a challenge to the lawfulness of a decision, generally considered only where no adequate alternative remedy — such as an appeal or administrative review — is available.

Where appropriate, we can assess whether pre-action correspondence or judicial review may be relevant, or advise on the next appropriate step. We do not promise outcomes, and we will tell you candidly if your case is not one we can take forward.
